Balestrate, Golfo di Castellammare
Balestrate is the delightful village beside the sandy beach of the Golfo di Castellammare. It is important for the production of vegetables, olives, citrus fruit and fruit.
In 1307, king Federico III from Aragon gave the territory of Balestrate to Partinico, but the monarchy kept State rights along its coastline that it decreed to be a distance equal to how far out to sea an arrow could reach when it was shot from a crossbow; from this decree evolved the name of Balestrate.
